Kansas Kids Fitness Day is an annual event that promotes wellness in kids. USD 475 third-grade students had a blast participating in different wellness activities as well as hearing from a motivational fitness speaker at the 12th Street Community Center in Junction City.
Kansas Kids’ Fitness Day was pioneered by the Kansas Council of Fitness to teach children how fun fitness can be and to recognize the benefits of making physical activity a lifetime habit. Participation has grown from 600 students in May of 1991 to nearly 20,000 across the state of Kansas.
USD 475 physical education teachers developed its’ own Kansas Kids’ Fitness Day to help children recognize the importance of physical activity, nutrition, the importance of healthy choices in regards to tobacco and drugs, and to help prevent the complications of chronic disease by establishing healthy behaviors at an early age.
