USD 475 and Junction City, Pending Agreement

USD 475 and City officials met in mid-April reaching a verbal acceptance of a proposed USD 475 Development Agreement for infrastructure improvements at the new high school site. Following legal reviews, the written Agreement presented by the District is to be taken up by the City Commission and Board of Education for final approvals.

David Wild, USD 475 Chief Operations Officer, states the Agreement cites construction of Blue Jay Way as a 41-foot wide collector street to be built from the K-18 Highway and Karns Drive intersection to the District’s north property line. Blue Jay Way includes an underground storm drainage system and a 10-foot wide sidewalk.

Improvements also include construction of a water main extension, looped fire protection line around the new school and a sewer main extension at Sandpiper Road.

Cost estimates for these improvements are $2,653,000 to be paid by USD 475. The District is awaiting final platting of the new high school site known as Jays Corner Addition before submitting a Munson Road development agreement to Geary County.

The roundabout construction from previous discussions would no longer be a part of this new agreement up for approval.
