Geary County Schools celebrated recent honors and achievements of students and staff at the Spring Board of Education Celebrations meeting held on Monday, April 15, 2019. Deena Horst and Ben Jones, of the Kansas State Board of Education, were in attendance and took time to present several schools with the state-level 2018 Challenge Award.
Grandview Elementary, Washington Elementary, Westwood Elementary, and Milford Elementary were awarded 2018 Challenge Awards for their outstanding achievement based on assessment results. This award, which was created by the Kansas Confidence in Public Education Task Force, recognizes schools for outstanding performance and uncommon accomplishment based on Kansas math and reading assessment results. The award also takes into consideration the graduation rates, chronic absenteeism rate, and the socio-economic status of those taking the test.

JCHS Scholars Bowl Team – 5th Place at State
Terrance Adeleye – 3rd Place at State
Sanford Teacher Award
