Mardell Maxwell, a 2004 graduate of Junction City High School, gave an engaging presentation to the eighth-grade class at Junction City Middle School on Friday, October 5th. After earning several college degrees,  Mardell has worked his way to become the youngest Executive Director of Admissions for a tier 1 public university—The University of Houston. Mardell’s presentation at JCMS explored the ideas in Stephen Covey’s book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. Mardell turned these seven habits into relatable stories and practical lessons for eighth graders. Dr. Karen Laflin, eighth-grade counselor at JCMS, organized this event as a way to help students set specific goals and develop positive habits as they embark on high school, college, and/or career. At the end of the presentation, Mardell made a promise to students—to be present at their graduation from Junction City High School in 2023.
