Friday, September 21, 2018, USD 475 and Junction City High School will observe the annual “Tribute to Our Troops” event in recognition of Fort Riley soldiers and their families. These soldiers and their families give loyal and faithful service to the defense and freedom of our nation and support our surrounding community and each of our schools.
JCHS will also make special recognition to members of the 97th Military Police Battalion who are partners with Junction City High School in the Adopt a Schools Program. This program offers soldiers the opportunity to become involved in the community by mentoring students, supporting school events, and assisting with student learning. These relationships benefit our students as they continue on the path of becoming our country’s future leaders.
In tribute to the “Big Red One,” JCHS has placed a Big Red One sticker on the helmets of all of their football players.
Events for the night will include a static display of military vehicles and soldiers running onto the field with JCHS players. Soldiers will also do pushups for every JCHS point scored against Topeka High School.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM, with events on the field beginning at 6:40 PM, at the Al Simpler stadium located at the Junction City High School. Gates to the stadium will open at 5:30 PM and the static display will be available at 5:00 PM. Half-time will include a K-9 demo and a performance by the Junction City High School Marching Band.
Ticket prices for adults with a Military ID will be $3.00 and without a Military ID $5.00. Student tickets will be $3.00.
