School’s Back From Summer!

Monday, August 13, 2018, marks the first official day of school in USD 475 for the 2018-2019 school year. Students were welcomed by staff today with positive affirmations and well wishes for the new school year. In her welcome back letter, Interim Superintendent, Dr. Beth Hudson wrote,

“It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you back to another school year in USD 475! We are glad to see new district students and staff join us in our commitment to providing a caring and compassionate environment, as well as a rigorous and challenging curriculum…Collaboration has never been more important to our efforts. We value the support of our community and our parents, recognizing that we must all work together for the success of our students.  By working together, we have the opportunity to build upon the wonderful traditions of excellence that are in place and to continue to create outstanding educational programs.”

Some of the first day activities included the assigning of school supplies at Milford Elementary, where students picked from school supply stations in some classrooms. Franklin Elementary jumped right into learning and students could be seen in various classes engaged in the content of a new year. Students at Grandview Elementary gathered in the school gym for an assembly about respect and being successful throughout the school year.

Some students, at Spring Valley Elementary, were even given a chance to practice how to go through the lunch line, and correctly line up at the drinking fountains ensuring that each student starts off the new year with respecting others in mind.
