The Community Involvement Unit at Junction City Police Department hosted a week long Law Enforcement Summer Camp from June 11th – June 15th. This program was a wonderful opportunity for 7th and 8th grade students and was sponsored entirely by local businesses in the Junction City Community. Each day started off with donuts for breakfast, provided by Donut Hole in Junction City, followed by a variety of different events, including a visit to the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in Hutchinson Kansas and a visit to the local Fire Department. Junction City Bowl also allowed the Junction City Police Summer Camp to come in and have some fun bowling. All in all, the annual JCPD Law Enforcement Summer Camp is a great way to encourage students to learn about Law Enforcement.
“My favorite part of the JCPD Summer Camp was when we saw officers do the pit maneuver because it was just like in the movies!” -Gabriel, 7th Grade
“I am thankful for everything the officers are teaching us.” -Giovani, 7th Grade
“I loved when we did the shooting simulation, where we got to practice with real guns that were changed to shoot lasers.” -Kaitlyn, 8th Grade
