Ware Elementary fifth graders visited Fort Riley Middle School today to see what it will be like to transition to middle school. Sixth grade volunteers served as tour guides to the fifth grade classes.
The tour began in the office area where they explained what staff could do to help them. From there, the tour guide walked across the hall to the cafeteria to explain the lunch schedule. The students then visited the library where they learned they could check out not only books, but their computers as well.
The fifth grade classes also toured the sixth grade wing of Fort Riley Middle School. During this part of the tour, students got the opportunity to practice unlocking a locker as well as peek into classrooms.
The next part of the tour included the vocal music room, where many of the Ware Elementary students were pleasantly surprised to see a teacher that they knew! The students then moved to the gym where they were allowed to ask the teacher questions about expectations in Physical Education.
Ware Elementary students left Fort Riley Middle School with a sense that their transition to sixth grade would be an easy one.
