Coach Bill Snyder from Kansas State University visited Lincoln Elementary today. He spoke about how the students can approach life with a growth mindset. Over thirty years ago, Carol Dweck coined the term growth mindset. Growth mindset describes when students believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger. Therefore they put in extra time and effort, and that leads to higher achievement.
Coach Snyder shared with students the importance of building relationships with people that truly care about them.

Coach Snyder also shared his advice on setting goals. He asks his players to begin by making a journal for a week about what things are important in their lives, what they would like to accomplish. After the first week, players are asked to prioritize and create a plan for the important goals. The National Education Association says that only five percent of goals are achieved. Coach Snyder shared that hard work and determination were key to achieving any goal.
Students at Lincoln Elementary were inspired to set their goals and excited to achieve them!
