On March 7, 2018, Spring Valley Elementary celebrated National School Breakfast Week by inviting parents to join students for the most important meal of the day. According to Kitchen Manager Paula Flores, who spearheaded the event, 113 breakfasts were served, with approximately 30 of them to parents attending with their children. Families were served chocolate and blueberry Otis Spunkmeyer muffins, Super Apple Cinnamon and Super Banana loaves, as well as a fresh fruit bar with raspberries, blackberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, bananas and oranges.
National School Breakfast Week is March 5-9, 2018. It is sponsored by School Nutrition Association. It began in 1989 with the goal of increasing awareness of the availability of breakfast at school.
