Sandra Gray’s Law and Public Safety Advisory along with other advisories traveled on February 7, 2018 to tour KU School of Law in the morning. The morning consisted of touring the law school and conversing with law students during the tour. The JCHS students then proceeded to the prelaw advising office and had the opportunity to visit with prelaw students.
In the afternoon, the students visited Washburn School of Law in Topeka. Students toured the law school with a student ambassador, attended a mock class with Professor Emily Grant and wrapped the day up with an admissions presentation with Preston Nicholson, Director of Admissions.
This had been a great experience for me. I really loved the fact that we were able to learn a little about how the other students were going through class and how it worked for them. I especially liked where we were able to sit in on a mock class and really debate/ discuss what was going on with that specific scenario. – Chantel Dancy
Junior, Jordan Hubbard in Ms. Gray’s advisory plans to apply to Harvard. This has been a lifelong dream of his and he is actively pursuing this path. Another junior, Cesar Robles is interested in staying local and applying at KU. Other students in this advisory are making plans and preparing for the future. The purpose of the field trip was for students to learn the expectations for admissions and preparation towards this career pathway.
