Alternatives to Snacks for the Big Game!

The big game is quickly approaching and this year millions will watch as the Eagles take on the Patriots. Millions will also take the opportunity to snack! But, what if you’re still sticking to your New Year’s resolution and eating healthy? We have a few recipes to keep the snacks healthier.

Baked Sweet Potato Chips

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 25 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes

  • 1 peeled thinly sliced sweet potato
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • cumin
  • paprika
  • course salt


  1. Heat oven to 400 degrees. 
  2. On 2 baking sheets, toss sweet potato with oil and season with cumin, paprika, and salt.
  3. Arrange in single layers and bake, flipping halfway, until crisp and golden, 20 to 25 minutes.


Zucchini Turkey Burger Slider

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings 4 servings


  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 yellow zucchini, grated and squeezed of excess moisture
  • 1 scallion, thinly sliced
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp store bought Tzatziki sauce
  • buns
  • tomato slices
  • lettuce
  • other toppings


  1. Mix the first 7 ingredients together. Shape into burger patties and arrange on a plate. Place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes or until ready to use.
  2. Preheat a grill or stove top, cook burgers on both sides until cooked through.

  3. Serve on a bun topped with Tzatziki and other toppings of your choice.


Crispy Baked Buffalo Wings

Prep Time 15 minutes

Total Time 1 hour 15 minutes

  • 1 lb chicken wings
  • 1+1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 3 tbsp virgin coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp apple cider vineager
  • 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash and pat dry each chicken wing. Dust evenly with ½ teaspoon of the sea salt plus the ground pepper. Bake at 400 F for approximately one hour, or until golden brown and the skin is hardened when you touch it.

  3. While the chicken is baking, make the buffalo sauce in a small sauce pan over the stove. Whisk the coconut oil, vinegar, lemon juice, cayenne, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and remaining 1 teaspoon of sea salt together. Let it simmer for 5 minutes then remove from heat. Whisk again just before using.

  4. When the chicken comes out of the oven, let them rest for 5 minutes then place in a large bowl and pour the buffalo sauce over. Stir and combine until each wing is evenly coated.

  5. Serve alongside celery sticks and dressing of your choice.

Recipe Notes

Note that if you make more than 1 pound of chicken wings at a time, you may need to adjust the cooking time in order to get the correct crispy texture. Any leftovers will keep refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
