Good things are happening in the USD 475 Vocational Training Program! Senior Nicole Burke read to a classroom at Lincoln Elementary. She is the author and illustrator of a book she made with the help of Sydney Hames and Christine Ziegler. Nicole’s lifelong dream is to become an author. She was placed at Lincoln Elementary through the Vocational Training Program after realizing that she wanted to write children’s books. She needed to know her audience and Lincoln Elementary School seemed a perfect fit. Burke was assigned to Mrs. Younger’s classroom where she met with students and had the opportunity to read her book aloud. The book was well received by the classroom and many in Geary County Schools are excited to see where Burke goes as an aspiring author.
