The Junction City High School JROTC has something to be proud of this week after placing 6th overall at the Raider Nationals Competition. Raiders Nationals is the largest Raider meet in the world with over 1,500 competitors from across the nation. These competitors come from public and army schools. Students compete in three divisions that include male, female, and mixed (JCHS JROTC participated in the mixed division on Friday of last week). Teams in all divisions are comprised of no more than 12 Raiders and no less than 10. Ten Raiders must compete in each event.
For each event in the mixed division, there must be no less than four females compete. JCHS placed in two events, the Gauntlet where they earned 5th place, and the one-rope bridge where they earned 4th place. The team also finished 6th in the 5K run and 12th in the Physical Team Test. These scores led to an overall placement of 6th and marks the first time JCHS has placed at any event in the meet.
The JCHS Team competing in the meet was comprised of Ariana Alexander, Tristan Cole, Renee Fowler, Savannah Green, Kevin Gurganus, Hunter Ketchem, Johneil Lorete, Samuel Osenga, Gage Panion, Elisabeth Roe, Magdalena Solis, David Zuk.
The JCHS JROTC will be recognized at the November Geary County Schools Board of Education Meeting on Monday, November 13, 2017, at 6:30 PM at the Junction City Middle School.
