The Konza UniServ’s Friend of Education Award is given in recognition of valuable contribution to the Junction City EA, Konza Uniserv and the Kansas National Education Association. Barbara Stewart was awarded this in recognition of her leadership, acts, and support which have contributed to the improvement of public education throughout her 37 years working for Geary County Schools. She has worked in the Human Resources department for most of her career at USD 475, as the Benefits and Payroll Coordinator, but more recently the Coordinator of Benefits.
Barb always was committed to doing what was right for teachers. Barb served as the head of benefits and payroll for the longest time in her career in Junction City. She has helped many teachers make good choices on the benefits packets that were offered for each individual. – Ryan Norton, Fort Riley Middle School
Mrs. Stewart has spent countless hours working with the Junction City Education Association to make sure that records were accurate. She has always been a strong advocate of payroll deductions. Mrs. Stewart has certainly been a friend and mentor to many in education throughout Geary County Schools. Her dedication will be remembered as she retires this month. USD 475 wishes her the best in her future endeavors.
