On behalf of Geary County Schools USD 475 the Communications Department would like to welcome new teachers to our district and community. These new employees started last week with “new teacher training” which gave them the opportunity to learn about the district and become familiar with policies and procedures. Some of this training included learning about the use of social media in education and how teachers have the ability to engage students online in a safe way.
“We want to help equip our staff with the knowledge necessary to effectively use communication tools like social media to reach students and the community. Being a resource for our educators is one of the things my team is most proud of here in Geary County Schools.” – Mat Droge, Executive Director of Communications for USD 475.
The messages of welcome didn’t stop at the district-level as new teachers were invited to a breakfast put together by the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce. This breakfast included welcomes from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Corbin Witt, Father Kyle Berens of Saint Xavier, Commissioner Ben Bennett, City of Junction City Mayor Phyllis Fitzgerald, Dennis Beson of the JCACC, and breakfast sponsor Jim Clark Auto.
Following the breakfast, new teachers had the opportunity to win door prizes which welcomed winners to free services or giveaways to some of the area sponsors.
Make sure to take a moment to welcome our new teachers throughout their first year in Junction City! They now are part of what makes this community great!
