RG Project Highlighted by Art and Film

Through USD 475’s partnership with the Kansas State  University School of Family Studies and Human Development, trained graduate students have been offering a healthy relationship curriculum during professional development days for 9th graders and Junction City Middle School 7th graders. The goal of this program is to empower youth to make healthy decisions by teaching them the benefits associated with self-regulation, healthy relationships, and goal setting, while also teaching them how to resist sexual coercion, dating violence, and other risky behaviors.

The 7th and 9th grade students from USD 475 who participated in The RG Project this past Spring showed their enthusiasm for positive relationships and relationship choices on June 1st at the Freshman Success Academy where they hosted an Art and Film Festival. They created art, videos, and plays to share what they learned about healthy relationships. Many showed their support of the RG Project students by enjoying the showcase and films.
