Westwood hosted Body Venture, an opportunity for students to learn about the importance of making healthy food choices and being physically active. This tour of the human body features engaging, experiential educational activities.
Body Venture was developed because there is a critical need to address good nutrition, physical activity and other healthy lifestyle choices. Among American kids: one in three children are overweight; children are undernourished but overfed with foods high in sugar and fats; and quality and quantity of daily activity has declined.
Lifestyle choices made at early ages have direct impact on adult health.
Westwood and Grandview Elementary students used the 45 foot exhibit to practice healthy behavior by learning about the digestive system and how eating right and physical activity relate to their health.
