Grant Awarded Supports K-12 Education

Geary County Schools USD 475 received good news regarding a grant proposal to Kansas State Polytechnic as part of the fiscal year 2017 Kansas Board of Regents Title II Improving Teacher Quality (ITQ) grant competition. As part of the rigorous review process, each proposal was sent to a review panel and accessed. The grant proposal submitted for “Enriching and Integrating 21st Century Science and Technology Knowledge and Skills Into Today’s Classroom Through Effective Partnerships” was selected to receive a grant in the amount of $166,468.00.

This grant will support K-12 education in USD 475 by providing training for teachers in computer science, integrating robotics and drones into classroom instruction, providing 3D printing as a means to bolster instruction, and will help to provide summer camps for students.

This grant along with others which the district and district staff pursue each year make many programs and events in Geary County Schools possible. USD 475 would like to thank those staff members who work to support the district through these means.
