Lions, and Tigers, and Ware Bears, Oh My!

The testing kick-off is an event put on by the staff of Ware Elementary each year, just before state-testing gets underway. Drew Horton, Susan Gillespie, and I work together to brainstorm a theme, develop a script, and create a set all in an effort to get kids excited and motivated to do their best on the state assessments.

This year’s theme was the Wizard of Oz. Each grade-level team created a staff performance and made costumes to contribute to the performance. As always, we had some amazing talent on our stage this year. It’s a great way for the students to see that even though tests and school are important, it’s just as important to have fun and not get so anxious come test time.

The entire building is in on this event. It takes everyone to make it all come together, from back stage help to student supervision to help with set-up and tear-down. Everyone works so hard to create something special for our Ware Bears.
