Students Qualify for State Music Festival

JUNCTION CITY, KAN. – On Saturday, April 8, 2017, the Junction City High School Music Department (Vocal, Orchestra, and Band) sent 66 total events (a solo performer or a small ensemble) to the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) Regional Music Festival held at Manhattan High School. Thirty-four of those events earned a “1 rating” and 32 events earned a “2 rating.” This represents 136 medals (1 rating) and 70 certificates (2 rating).


Those earning a 1 rating qualify for the State Solo & Ensemble Music Festival that will be held at Washburn Rural High School on Saturday, April 29, 2017. A total of 112 JCHS students, which includes 26 solos & 8 small ensembles, qualified and will participate. This is currently the largest number of JCHS students who have qualified for a State Music Festival.
